The Power of Packaging

The soaring success of social media can be a headache for some marketers, who find that their time is consumed with creating posts and responding to others.  However, there are definite advantages for businesses operating in this day-and-age.  60% of those recently surveyed reported that they had shared an image of a package online, simply because they were excited and the product packaging was attractive.

That is called organic marketing – it occurs naturally, without any form of provocation, and costs your company nothing.  Despite all of that, it can be one of the most productive forms of advertising, because you are not asking potential consumers to trust your brand to speak honestly about the product.  They only have to look to the recommendations of trusted friends or family members.

The look of your flexible packaging, therefore, is very important.  It could make the difference between making one sale, and making many.  How the consumer perceives the food bags can dictate whether he or she shares it with followers.  However, it is also important to work with packaging designers to ensure that the food pouches are both attractive and fully functional.

However, you can have both and there is a lot of evidence that supports the fact that people appreciate attractive product packaging.  Nearly 9 in 10 people will reuse shopping bags, if they like the image printed on them. Three-quarters of shoppers will share information about products that come innovative packaging. And, nearly all shoppers surveyed admitted that they had purchased a product that they learned about when a friend or family member shared an image of it online.

You can’t ask for any better than that.  Not only are these people investing in your brand, buying your goods, they are willing to set up the perfect shot to highlight your food product packaging. That is, most definitely, a sincere form of flattery.
